Stem Separation for Music Teachers: Create Custom Lesson Material

Music teachers can use stem separation to create custom practice tracks for students. Isolate instruments, remove parts for students to play, and create backing tracks from any song.

Teaching a student a song? Instead of telling them to "play along with the recording," give them a custom practice track with their instrument removed.

Create a student practice track

  1. Load the song
  2. Remove the student's instrument (guitar, bass, vocals, etc.)
  3. Export the backing track
  4. Send it to the student

Now they practice against the real arrangement, not a generic MIDI backing track.

Create a reference track

  1. Isolate only the instrument the student needs to learn
  2. Slow it down
  3. The student hears every note clearly

Create an ensemble exercise

  1. Remove all instruments except drums
  2. The student builds their own arrangement on top

Desktop tools keep lesson recordings private — no uploading student audio to cloud services.
