Download Fretboard Lab

Download the current desktop build of Fretboard Lab. This page is the official download entry for users who want to install, evaluate, or update the application.

When to use this page

Fretboard Lab is built for focused desktop work rather than a cloud account workflow. Use this page when you need the latest installer, want to confirm platform support, or need a stable link before activating a license.

Before installing

Check that your operating system matches the available build. If SmartScreen, Gatekeeper, antivirus software, or an endpoint policy blocks the app, verify that the installer came from this page and review the release notes before retrying.

License note

A license is not required just to read this page. If the product requires activation after install, use the license page for email, license key, offline use, and machine transfer details.

Purchases and activation stay with the distribution channel you choose: website editions use an emailed license key; a Store build exposes native purchase only when that Store offer is published, and restores entitlements through your Microsoft account.

Guitar chord and voicing reference

Beginner guitar keys, chord shapes, and voicings that fit the song.

Type Cmaj7, Am7, or I-V-vi-IV and explore playable fingerings sorted by position, span, open strings, and difficulty across standard and alternate tunings.

Built for guitarists, teachers, and songwriters who want to move beyond the first-position barre chord and find voicings that fit their hand, their tuning, and their song.

Chord parsing and voicing generation

Enter standard chord symbols (Cmaj7, Am7, Dm7b5) or roman numerals (I-V-vi-IV) and generate multiple playable voicings from the guitar-core engine.

Fretboard visualization and sorting

View voicings on an SVG fretboard with finger numbers, muted/open markers, and position labels. Sort by position, difficulty, span, or open string count.

Alternate tunings and export

Switch between E Standard, Drop D, DADGAD, Open G, and more. Export voicing diagrams as PNG, PDF, Markdown, or JSON.

Installers

Linux users can choose DEB, RPM, or AppImage. Windows users can install with the setup executable.

Checksums

Use the SHA-256 value beside each artifact to verify downloaded packages before installation.
