- Centered pass: reproduce the written or perceived placement.
- Context pass: restore harmony stems and preserve the same timing.
- Reference pass: restore the original Bass and compare the relationship.
If the line drifts only during a fill or position shift, shorten the loop around its approach and landing. A clean isolated bar is not enough if the player misses the transition into it.
Learn articulation rather than only notes

For each difficult phrase, note the root or target tone, rhythmic placement against the kick, duration, articulation, and movement into the next chord. A separated Bass estimate may reveal a note while hiding why that note works in the arrangement.
