LowEnd Forge Changelog

This is the changelog for LowEnd Forge. Our development philosophy is simple: we ship desktop software that solves a specific problem reliably.

We release new features when the industry outgrows the current workflow. We ship fixes when we break something. We adapt when the underlying platform changes, such as a new network stack, OS security policy, or protocol specification. This page documents those improvements, fixes, and adaptations.

We try to avoid pushing updates just to bump the version number. If the build you are using is stable and the changelog does not mention a fix or feature you care about, it is safe to skip the release.

The entries here prioritize changes that affect real use: installers, license activation, import and export behavior, offline work, report handoff, data-format compatibility, performance, and error handling.

If you are deciding whether to upgrade, start with the items that match your workflow and then install the newer build when the fix or feature matters.   1. 0.1.11 — 2026-07-26

    • Microsoft Store builds show the native purchase offer only when StoreContext returns the configured durable add-on with the matching Store ID and a non-empty localized price; unavailable or mismatched listings stay hidden.
    • Purchase revalidates that exact live offer before opening native checkout, while Microsoft Store ownership refresh and other channel-specific entitlement behavior remain unchanged.
    • Bass-stem separation now uses HTDemucs' native overlap instead of repeating every window at the maximum overlap, cutting the interactive analysis delay while preserving the existing quiet-note recovery, Basic Pitch fusion, and CREPE guidance.
  2. 0.1.10 — 2026-07-26

    • During replacement audio import, unsafe analysis, playback, seeking, and repeated-open actions remain locked until the exact replacement source has settled.
    • After the replacement settles, playback progress and bass transcription use only that source; acceptance starts and pauses playback and retains the resulting evidence.
  3. 0.1.9 — 2026-07-22

    • Direct installer builds keep website checkout, license-key import, and online activation; Store builds hide web checkout and use native purchase and account restore.
    • A native Store purchase offer is exposed only when its add-on is explicitly marked as published; unpublished add-ons remain restorable for existing owners but cannot start a new purchase.
    • After a successful native purchase, the desktop runtime refreshes the Store entitlement and returns the updated license state. This code path has not yet completed real-account Store transaction acceptance.
  4. 0.1.8 — 2026-07-17

    • Bass transcription now combines official Basic Pitch onset evidence with CREPE periodicity and bass-specific reattack logic, recovering short or swallowed notes without splitting sustained tones on weak evidence.
    • Portable .lforge projects can embed and integrity-check the original source plus isolated bass and accompaniment stems alongside the complete editable session.
    • The practice mixer now plays the real bass and backing stems with independent gain, mute, and solo control through the shared realtime playback engine.
    • Cancellation is end-to-end and race-safe: stale progress or completion from a cancelled analysis can no longer overwrite a replacement job.
  5. 0.1.7 — 2026-07-12

    • Bass transcription now combines Basic Pitch onset evidence with the full CREPE monophonic pitch model, correcting octave harmonics and recovering short, high-confidence ghost notes.
    • The recognition-only stem now uses a true-silence timed gate followed by compression, excitation, and a broad midrange EQ lift; playback keeps the untouched separated bass.
    • Same-pitch notes are split only when a learned onset and a real envelope reset agree, removing the three-view rule that could divide one sustained note or create events in closed-gate silence.
    • Installers now bundle the pinned CREPE ONNX model and complete MIT provenance alongside HTDemucs, Basic Pitch, and ONNX Runtime.
  6. 0.1.6 — 2026-07-12

    • Cancellation now stops separation and transcription end to end: stale jobs can no longer overwrite results, and progress no longer jumps back after a cancel.
    • Restored Spotify's official Basic Pitch decoder and added consensus across three model views. Long recordings now use overlap-aware stitching and retain their final frames instead of cutting off the tail.
    • .lforge projects are now self-contained bundles with the original audio and separated stems, so they can be moved and reopened without the source files.
    • Editing is faster: click the note lane once to add a note, click the waveform to seek, and follow playback with a finer playhead.
    • Windows upgrades now reliably launch and wait for the previous-version uninstaller, removing the need to uninstall manually from Windows Settings.
  7. 0.1.5 — 2026-07-11

    • Added versioned .lforge projects so edited notes, tuning, quantization, chords, mixer settings, and workspace state can be saved and reopened without transcribing again.
    • Improved repeated-note segmentation by combining isolated-bass and full-mix onset evidence while keeping count-in clicks out of the bass tab.
    • Hardened recovery and packaging with source fingerprints, missing-audio fallback, safe asynchronous saves, and verified bundled HTDemucs and Basic Pitch resources.
  8. 0.1.4 — 2026-07-10

    • Rebuilt the editing workspace around a faster, more focused bass-tab writing workflow.
    • Expanded the PDF workflow with a refined preview and export experience.
    • Refreshed the complete visual system and resolved UI and editing issues throughout the app.
  9. 0.1.0 - Initial beta release

    • First beta release of the offline audio-to-tab and score drafting workbench.
    • Added local audio transcription passes, editable notation views, quantization, visible MIDI/PDF export workflows, and an internal limited MusicXML compatibility renderer that the current UI does not expose.

How to read LowEnd Forge release notes

LowEnd Forge is a bass-first transcription workbench: isolate the low-end signal, draft four-string tab, follow the part against the waveform, correct the musical decisions, and export a chart that can leave the room.

Use this page to decide whether a release changes the exact workflow you rely on. Installer fixes, activation fixes, export behavior, local file compatibility, and evidence/report output matter more than a version number by itself.
